A Walk in the Park

Florida is notorious for its beautiful beaches, but we also have some great parks here, too. I di a lot of family sessions at Lettuce Lake Park near the University of South Florida. Lots of open shade and nature trails make this a great backdrop for family portraits. During the spring months I usually do multiple sessions each weekend at Lettuce Lake Park. The weather is divine that time of year. I recently shot this beautiful family amongst the grand oaks. The mosquitoes weren't too thrilled about waking them up from their morning slumbers, but atleast we made it out alive. Next time I'll bring Raid.

PR shoot with Angelette Aviles

I had a great time finally meeting my cyber-friend and shooting her new promotional shots. Angelette Aviles is the President of Americas Marketing & Graphics. She's also very active in politics, more specifically the Republican community, and specializes in Hispanic marketing and outreach. She's such a joy to work with and I wish her the best of luck in her new venture in Washington D.C.

I'm better at photographing running children than blogging.

Still learning this whole blogging business. I've found a great blog spot that has some useful tips so I'll keep researching. In the meantime I'm going to small towns and the countryside to see what I can shoot (figuratively speaking).

Why are you so expensive?

Often times people will ask me what I charge. Immediately after they say, "I know, if you have to ask you can't afford it." I'm very upfront with my pricing and put it on my website, including the cost of prints. I'm very suspicious of photographers (or any business) that is not upfront with this. The photographers who don't put their pricing will tell you over the phone that their sessions start at X amount and the prints start at $25. What they fail to tell you is that a 4x6 is $25. Or, they get you in the studio to display your portraits and when you can't resist any of them they then tell you about the $75 8x10. My pricing is very affordable, and quite frankly I should charge more. However, I want my clients to be able to have something nice they can cherish forever. So, I found an article on another blog, and I thought I'd share it with you so you can see the amount of time and energy that goes into custom portraiture and photography.

'Tis the Season

It's June! Yes, wedding season is here. However, June brides and Florida don't always go hand-n-hand...especially when the outdoors are involved. Although everyone would like an intimate beach wedding, they never seem to remember (or know about in the first place) the late afternoon storms that come rolling in each day. However, those who are lucky enough...well, they will have some beautiful memories to cherish forever.

This Lens Kicks Glass

Wowzer! Last night my husband and I went to a non-fancy restaurant for a regular date night. The hostess arrives at our table with what looked like a huge bottle of wine inside a gift bag. I opened it and viola!...my new Canon 70-200mm 2.8L IS lens. If you do not know the awesomeness of this lens check out B&H Photography for reviews (and any other site out there). One of the first photos was one that I had my husband take of me and my 3 boys. I can't wait to use this at the beach, parks and all kinds of other great places.

Searching for the Ultimate Lens

While I'm talking "shop." I must say I'm searching for some new glass. Glass is pro speak for len(es). One of my lens that I've used from day one finally bit the dust (or atleast allowed some of it to seep in) while on vacation, and I just decided, in lieu of repairing, I'm just buying/investing in something new. Or....do I want a new designer handbag? I thoroughly believe male photographers have it so much easier. What would they do with $2000 other than buy a new lens?

The search is on. Also, I've got some great ideas and promos coming up...I'll keep ya posted!

My 1st attempt at blogging

I have absolutely NO idea what I'm doing, how to do it, or what it will look like after I do it. BUT, I am doing it...blogging!

I suppose I can try to attach a photo or two. I'll publish this and see what it looks like.

I saw the preview and it looked OK. So, I'll start blogging. I'll blog about my business as a child/maternity/hot mom/PR photographer while simultaneously raising three young boys.

Here goes nothing, errr something!

Wish me luck!
